Applicants who apply for Academic Intern Track posts must also submit the Post Preference Selection online form when invited to do so.
Overview of the Academic Intern Track Process
This is an online application.
Applicants interested in the Academic Intern Track must submit an application for the overall process as well as the Academic Intern Track. The application for the Academic Intern Track will be open from Friday 17th October 2025 until 5pm Friday 16th January 2026 (Irish Time). The overall application will open on Friday 17th October 2025 until 5pm Friday 28th November 2025 (Irish Time)

- a valid email address
- access to a mobile telephone number from which you receive text messages
- Please note the online application is designed to display in most modern web browsers. NRS recommends that you ensure your PC/laptop/mobile device can support the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge.

In order to apply for the Academic Intern Track process, you will need to complete the online application form in full.
There are mandatory questions in the Online Application Form. These are questions that all applicants must answer. If you do not answer the mandatory questions, the system will not allow you to submit your Application Form. An error message will appear on the relevant screen to highlight the question(s) remaining unanswered. Once all mandatory questions have been answered you will be able to submit your Online Application Form.
You must complete all relevant sections of the online application.
You must complete and submit the dedicated Online Application Form by the closing date and time of 5pm Friday 16th January 2026 (Irish Time).
No other versions of applications and/or uploads will be accepted e.g. written, postal, email, CV, etc.
Please note the online application is designed to display in most modern web browsers. NRS recommends that you ensure your PC/laptop/mobile device can support the following browsers Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge.
NRS strongly recommends that you take the opportunity to review your application prior to submission to ensure the details contained within your online application are correct. You will have an opportunity to review your application prior to submission. Once you are satisfied that your application is complete, please ensure you select the SUBMIT button.
If you need to make changes to your submitted application, you will need to restart the Academic Intern Track application. You must complete and submit the dedicated Online Application Form by the closing date and time of 5pm Friday 16th January 2026 (Irish Time).
I have completed and submitted my Online Application Form – what happens next?
Once you click on the SUBMIT button, you will receive a receipt to the email address you have provided in your application. This is your application email receipt which contains a PDF copy of your application and it is important that you retain it carefully. It is your record of proof that you applied for this stage of the recruitment campaign. If you need to make changes to your submitted application, you will need to restart the Academic Intern Track application process.
If you don’t receive your email receipt of the application or the email containing your completed application, please check your Spam or Junk e-mail folder just in case the email receipt of the application has been delivered there instead of your Inbox. If your email receipt of the application has gone to your Spam/Junk email folder, simply select the email and mark it Not Spam/Not Junk, this should allow future messages to get through to your Inbox.
A single application per individual is permitted. If you have submitted more than one application, we will accept the last one received from you prior to the closing date and time.
Post preference Selection
Candidates will be invited submit their post preferences at a later date and will receive an email with a link. Candidates must select from all 48 post preferences, the 1st being your highest preference and indicate either a post preference (e.g., Academic 012). If candidates do not list all 48 posts but are successful at interview, they may not receive an offer if their preferred posts have already been allocated.
Candidates must then select from the 6 networks. If candidates do not list all 6 networks but are successful at interview, they may not receive an offer if posts in their preferred networks have already been allocated.
If you don’t receive your email receipt of the application or the email containing your completed application, within 24 hours and you have checked your Inbox and Spam/Junk email folder(s), please contact the Helpdesk by clicking Helpdesk Query below:
