Offer Stage

To support you through the Offer Stage of the Medical Intern process and to answer any question you may have in relation to the Offer Stage,  we provide a full description of what you can expect and when it will happen, You can find this information in A Guide to Application and Appointment to Medical Intern Training in Ireland commencing July 2026.

What you will need:

  • a PC/laptop/mobile device with internet access
  • a valid email address
  • access to a mobile telephone number from which you receive text messages
  • Please note the online application is designed to display in most modern web browsers. NRS recommends that you ensure your PC/laptop/mobile device can support the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge (major versions released in the last year).

NRS recommends that you download all relevant documentation, as outlined below, to your PC/laptop/mobile device prior to responding to your offer.

Offer StageDeadline for conferral/graduation of basic medical degree:

This means the date you will have received your basic (primary) medical qualification, which clearly displays the full date of conferral

Offer StageNRS will issue a communication by email the week commencing 25th May 2026 to candidates who have been matched to an intern post.

NRS will issue a communication by email the week commencing 25th May 2026 to candidates not matched to an intern post with details of their place on the reserve list.

Offer StageDeadline for acceptance/decline of post allocation (Offer).
Please note this date may be brought forward. The deadline to accept/decline a post will be outlined in your offer email.
48 hours from date of offer

Please note that acceptances submitted after the deadline will not be considered. If no response is received by that time, it will be treated as a decline. Candidates are expected to submit their acceptance well in advance, as extensions will not be granted under any circumstances, including technical or other issues that may prevent timely submission. Additionally, if all responses are received before the deadline, subsequent round offers may be issued earlier.

Garda Vetting

For candidates invited to initiate Garda Vetting, please ensure you have submitted your NVB1 form and supporting documents, and respond promptly to any requests for additional information from the Garda Vetting Team. Please note interns cannot commence employment unless they have been Garda Vetted. This is a legal requirement.

Please note: If you have received your e‑Vetting link, you have 21 days from the date of receipt to complete and submit. Failure to do so within this timeframe will require you to restart the Garda Vetting process from the beginning.

IMC Registration Fee Refund

Candidates who have registered with the Irish Medical Council and decline their offer should contact the Irish Medical Council if they wish to request a refund of the fee. Queries in relation to registration should be sent to intern@mcirl.ie
